Back from hiatus!

Hi my friends! I have had this lil blog o' mine sadly on the back burner for a few months, unfortunately as we all know, family "stuff" can sometimes overwhelm us. Now, having said that, I am ready to start crafting, thrifting & holiday decorating!! Football has started & to me that means Fall! Out with the pumpkin stuff, yummy scented candles & baked goods.

I was looking through my mess of a closet upstairs (craft closet) when I found this little door I had saved from an old entertainment center. I decided to give it a lil tlc :) Using black paint then white wash over the top & a hook from Hobby Lobby (3.99) that i glued on with e6000. Now I need to pull a ribbon thru the hole at the top for hanging. Whatcha think?

Really, it's May already?

Well hello my peeps, things in this little part of the world have been hoppin! My, my, how time flies when your hustling & trying to hold your sanity together, by a string! Oh, of course what I meant was, when your having fun. ;)  Jordan will be graduating next week( my baby girl) and we have been soaking up all that being a senior in high school has to offer, then there is the news that she will be leaving for an academic career in LA~insert boo hooing here! Anyway, glad to hop back on Cupcakes! Since we will be hosting a luncheon, to celebrate her graduation, I decided to put together a few more tier plates. I mean really, one can never have too many, right?? Had some old pieces, some e6000, & now I have more cute space for cheese's & crackers.

Easy Art

We had a canvas sitting in the back of the craft closet that was just sitting, waiting, begging to be turned into art :). It really was in just a matter of minutes, that it was transformed, first a coat of black craft paint, while that was drying, we cut out shapes from scrapbook paper.
When the paint was dry, we added Mod Podge in small areas, then applied our paper in a flowerish design. Once everything was in place, another coat of Mod Podge over the entire surface. Now Jordan has a cool & unique piece of art for her room.

Jewelry Organizer

Anyone who has teenage girls knows the impossible amount of jewelry that can be found all over their rooms, bathrooms, closets, etc. ;) There is only so much a jewelry box can hold, and some of the pieces are much too large for them anyway. Solution...a funky wall jewelry holder! Of course I started out with some scrap wood I had at home. Then purchased some cute metal ware from Hobb Lobb :)
Oh, and it was of course half off. Painted my wood with a base coat of black. After it was dry, I used a cool turquoise (this is an accent color for her room). Worked a little distressing into it, and added the hardware. Now all of those long, big, pieces have a place in the world!

More fun and easy!

Hi Ya`ll! I am always looking for things that can be done either in an afternoon (while everyone is at school) or in a day or two...I am a person who like instant gratification :). Well, with so many options at my fave spot ( Hobby Lobby) I could stay busy day after day.
Again using e6000, different wood pieces, and a little paint. I chose a grouping of three different crosses, used the wooden dowels, and wood bases to create some pretty cool fillers for the entertainment center cabinets.
Gluing all my pieces together first, and allowing to dry as recommended. Applying my base coat of black, after that was dry, I just dry brushed the antique white. After it is all dry, rough it up a bit with some sanding.
Now, I have to get back to it, my mom wants me to make a few for her. Happy crafting!

Little Projects

Such a fun, easy, and inexpensive little project. Basic pieces needed, a wooden candle holder, any glass type jar you like, e6000, craft paint of your choice. I chose red, and then did a dry brush over in black. First, paint your candle stick, let dry, then  simply glue the glass base to the candle holder, allow to dry for at least 6 hours (over night is best). After everything was set, I gave a little sanding to the base, added moss and wine corks since I am using it in my kirchen. And all for a few bucks...about 8.00!

Sweet-n-salty treats

So, basically, who doesn't love a sweet and salty treat...at the same time? yep, that's what I thought :) So simple and so yummy! Your three ingredients are, pretzels, Rolo candy, and Reese`s pieces!!
Line a cookie sheet with foil, lay out your pretzels, place a Rolo on top, place in 200 degree oven for about 5-7 min or until they start to look all melty :)
Drop a Reese's candy on top and smush it down, wha-lah...little pieces of heaven, enjoy!
